multidisciplinary artist. poet. genderfucker.
based in Tio'tia:ke (Montreal, Canada)
nox explores spaces of intimacy, of the body, of relationships from a non-dualistic perspective. at the moment, their practice falls somewhere between textile arts, land art, performance art and poetry.
their plastic research converge towards an ethic of reciprocity with the territory of which we are all part.
nox considers their creative process to be a search for union rooted in a practice of mindfulness.
they are influenced by queer, decolonial, anti-capitalist, non-violent, and intersectional feminist perspectives .
they aspire to a direct art, which can be compared to the concept of direct action (anarchist political theory). this posture is illustrated by their search for lineal contact with the raw materials: by opting for a minimalist approach in their action-based works, and by processing the raw materials by hand, therefore minimising the recourse to the intermediary of manufactured artist's materials.
nox questions the need to label art as art, as much as the need to define oneself in a constantly changing world. however, they also recognize their own subjectivity and priviledge of being born a white, francophone, wealthy, able body on stolen indigenous land.
